Does retro-inspired appliances, painted rocking chairs, and a food truck that slings gourmet Texas grub out of a converted Airstream trailer – make you crave more of the vintage life? Well, hold onto your hoop skirts; what follows is a Vintage Vixens–approved 48-hour weekend itinerary that will give you the best look at Austin’s vintage side and have you two-stepping your way through Austin faster than a 1954 Buick Roadmaster (that you’ll also find at Lone Star Court).

DAY THREE

COUNTRY THROWBACK IN LUCKENBACH - 9 AM

Country Throwback People Dancing

Luckenbach Texas General Store

Sunday morning means an excursion to famous Fredericksburg, Texas, 80 miles west of Lone Star Court. “It’s a quick trip outside of Austin for some classic Texas honky-tonk fun,” James says. Established as a trading post in 1849, Luckenbach hasn’t changed much since and regularly hosts country music concerts; visit the old-fashioned Luckenbach Texas General Store for souvenirs to take home.

VINTAGE FLICKS- 12:30 PM

Stars & Stripes

On the way back to Austin from Luckenbach, take a quick detour to New Braunfels and catch a flick at Stars & Stripes, a nostalgic drive-in theater. Stars & Stripes will transport you back to the 50's. They also offer a 50's themed café where you can enjoy classic favorites such as funnel cakes and hand-spun milkshakes while enjoying a movie from the comfort of your vehicle, just like the good old days!

REFILL THE RIGHT RX AT THE FARMACY - 2 PM

Hillside Farmacy

Back in Austin, Hillside Farmacy is one of Trumbo’s top restaurant picks and a great way to bring your retro Austin itinerary to a close. The weekend brunch menus are served until 3 p.m. and are especially lively with wasabi Bloody Marys, mimosas, and brûlée Texas grapefruit. But try the Vixens’ pick: Smokey Denmark Bangers & Eggs made with eggs from Happy Chick Farms in nearby Lockhart. The striped awning and early-twentieth-century lettering outside, along with black-and-white mosaic tile and gaslight lamps inside, set the perfect notes as your watch hits the 48-hour mark.
